AIS Receiver 1 (AR1) - Details

Technical Details
- Single channel receiver without decoder, therefore all available AIS message types are passed.
- Available with receiver factory configured for channel A (161.975 MHz) or channel B (162.025 MHz).
- Receiver sensitivity is better than 0.5uV pd for 12dB SINAD using the sinewave method.
Requirements
- Requires PC-compatible computer with USB and sound input connectors (mic or line-in).
- Uses sound input on computer, no serial port required for static use.
- Uses computer's USB port to provide power, no separate power supply required.
- Occasional Internet access is required to register software and to obtain updates.
- Software requires up-to-date pentium-grade Windows PC with 48kHz-sampling soundcard.
Features
- Designed for use with ShipPlotter software from COAA.
- Housed in robust and compact black ABS enclosure.
- Can attach to outer lid of notebook computer with supplied VelcroŽ pads.
- Has analogue squelch control with full rotation blanking all but the very strongest signals.
- Has bi-colour LED for squelch feedback and likely signal decoding status.
- Can be used on-board by feeding NMEA data from GPS receiver to computer's serial or USB port.
- Has 50-ohm BNC aerial connector.
Supplied with
- Colour matched USB power lead. For computers with standard A-type socket.
- Audio lead. For computers with standard 3.2mm three pole jack socket.
- KATAS AIS Starter Disc CD-ROM (PC format) allowing use 'straight out of the box'.
- 12-month return-to-base warranty except in case of proven damage caused by lightning strike.
